Flat Commission

Exactly like it says, check this option if for each transaction, a flat commission is chargeable. This constant value is added to fees on purchase and on sale. Note that if you do not wish to factor in any commission then uncheck both commission boxes.

Commission Rate

Check this value if you pay commission as a percentage of each transaction (for example: a value of 0.5 is a commission rate of 0.5%). This is added on at both purchase and sale of assets. Note that if you do not wish to factor in any commission then uncheck both commission boxes.

Minimum Commission

If every transaction is subject to a minimum commission then check this box and enter the minimum amount chargeable in the corresponding box.

Maximum Commission

If every transaction is subject to a maximum commission then check this box and enter the maximum amount chargeable in the corresponding box.

Stamp Duty

This is payable only on purchase transactions and NOT on sale. Check this value if you pay stamp duty as a percentage of each purchase transaction (for example: a value of 0.5 is a stamp duty rate of 0.5% for each purchase)

PTM Levy

PTM levy (Panel on Mergers and Takeovers Levy) is chargeable on all transactions over $/£10000. Check this box and enter and value in pence/cents if you wish to factor this in (for example: a value of 25 is 25pence/cents)

Results Section

Amount Risked

This statistic tells you the total outlay that you have made (ie: the cost to purchase all the shares plus any fees that have accumulated that you are liable to).

BreakEven Unit Price

Opposite to Lower re-purchase price:

If you sell all your shares at a share price any higher than the break even unit price, you will make a profit.

If you sell all your shares at a share price any lower than the break even unit price, you will make a loss.

If you sell all your shares at the break even unit price, you will break even after fees.

The break even share price is always higher than the purchase share price. This is because the value of the each share must rise a little to cancel out fees on purchase and on sale.

Note: the above does not account for dividend and other such benefits

Lower re-purchase price

Opposite to break even price:

After selling all your shares, if you wish to buy them all back again (re-purchase them), using the full amount recovered, then this is the target share price which will put you back in the position at which you were at immediately before you sold (ie: it would be as if you didn't sell the shares to begin with - the drop in share price represented by the lower re-purchase price, cancels out the cost of fees on sale and re-purchase).

A negative lower re-purchase price implies that it is not possible for you to be in the same position as when you sold.

Note: the above does not account for share dividends or any other such benefits

Amount Lost to fees

This is the total amount that you have lost to fees including purchase and sale fees (ie: total commission plus total ptm plus total stamp duty).

PTM Levy

(Panel on Takeovers and Mergers Levy) This is chargeable on all transactions above £/$10000. It represents the amount that you have lost in fees attributable to ptm.

Commission

This is the total commission that you have paid, both on purchase and then on sale. It represents the amount that you have lost in fees attributable to commission.

On Purchase

This is the total amount of fees lost on commission on purchase alone.

On Sale

This is the total amount of fees lost on commission on sale alone

Stamp Duty

This is the total amount lost on fees to stamp duty alone. Note that stamp duty is only chargeable on purchase and not on sale.

Amount Recovered

This is the total amount that you have recovered on sale of all your shares, after all fees (excluding dividend and other such benefits)

Profit Margin

Profit that you have achieved after sale of shares and after fees (as a percent).

Net profit on sale

This is the total amount of profit that you have acquired after sale of assets and after fees. If this value is negative then you have made a loss.

Save Output to file

This button will allow you to save the output displayed in the results window in plain text format to a file of your choice. It will also append the date and time to the file at which the results were found.
