I created a dumy file of about 10 records and ran the TRIM option with delete of first and last n characters.

What I wanted to do (or at least what I expected) was that it would TRIM ALL 10 records. All it did was trim just the 1st record.


If you are working on file contents then you have the option to either delete characters or lines (there is a drop down menu at the bottom of the window where you can select this).

For example, if you have a file with contents:

line1
line2
line3
line4
line5

and you select to delete the last 2 lines then the file will end up like this:

line1
line2
line3

If however, you are deleting the last 2 characters then the file will look like this:

line1
line2
line3
line4
lin

It is also worth noting that a carriage return is classed as 2 characters.
