What files does the FileMonkey Extract feature work on?

If you are trying to extract plain text from a file (for example, email addresses, names or other alpha-numeric plain text) then that text needs to be stored within the file as plain text.

The file that you are working on does not necessarily need to be plain text as long as the data that you are extracting is plain text.

For example: most database files are not plain text however, some will store data in plain text format. Others will store data in binary and/or encrypted format and FileMonkey cannot extract this data as plain text.

For best results, you should try to use the Extract feature only on plain text files.

Common plain text file types include: .txt, .html, .htm, .php, .js and many more.
