What is a service?

Author Message
datawalker Hello,

I've been using MonkeyFolder for the past several month, it really
is a great product :-)

I now need to monitor different folders and rename and archive to differnet names and locations from the same server.

Is it possible to run multiple instances of MonkeyFolder on the same
server?

Thank you for your assistance...

Regards,

Hi,
yes, this can be done. For example, you can set up separate instances of FoldMonkey using services.

datawalker Hello,

Thank you for your quick response..

I can see how you can run FolderMonkey more than once as a different
service name. How can you change the settings for each instance?

Thanks again,

Hi,
please use the following instructions:

1. Right click on the FoldMonkey icon and select "Run as administrator".

2. Enter the required settings in the settings window.

3. Click the "Service" button.

4. In the "Service" window, enter a name and log file path for the service.

5. Click the "Add/Replace Service" button to add the service.

6. Follow any onscreen prompts. For example, you may be asked if you want to start the service now or on next boot.

7. When finished, close the service window.

8. Repeat the above steps 2 to 7 for each new service that you wish to add.

If you are unsure of using these features, you can create a test folder and fill it with dummy files and then test services on the test folder.

If a service is not working as required, you may want to check the log file for that service for any notable errors.

If you have any further questions about the above, please feel free to reply to this post.

datawalker Hello,

Thanks once again...

I see, each time you set the current settings you desire prior to creating
the service name.

Best Regards,
